Degree Description

This program prepares graduates for employment in the social services field by providing understanding of the methods, skills, philosophy, and human behavior necessary to perform in a social services setting. Students learn to do intake, interviewing, and crisis intervention referral by spending time in an agency to learn on-the-job skills. The program prepares graduates to qualify for Registration as a Social Service Technician under the Michigan Bureau of Health Professions. Employment opportunities exist in social work, agency work and/or substance abuse treatment.
